Marion is a modern Adelaide
suburb on the Sturt River 11 km s-w of the
CBD. Founded in 1838 as a rural village, it was
planned by Adelaide's surveyor, Col. Light. The
area originally supported mining, a brick works,
orchards and vineyards and is today surrounded by
several pretty parks and reserves. There are
several colleges, churches, recreational clubs and
a very large shopping complex. Marion is serviced
by regular bus and train services.
